Resource Planning

For regulators / policy makers

  • Cultural training on behavioural science for all design & development teams

  • Despite existing taxonomies for macro-emotions, issues like cultural nuances of speech and social hierarchies impact how different individuals exhibit various emotional patterns. Given the lack of a simple global definition of emotion, it’s important that system devs undertake cultural training to understand the behavioural science behind the types of input capture they will ultimately build their systems to intake.

  • Create ethical ‘red lines’ around types of system capacity (e.g. behavioural nudging, and emotion manipulation).

  • The pre-planning stage also provides an opportunity for system devs to map out ‘red lines’ that the applications of their builds will exclude. This might include things like using algorithms to not just recognize and detect emotion, but also nudge affective response.

  • Schedule external ethical review at each stage of development

  • Accessible documentation

  • Design specification for applicable oversight

  • Map cross-team accountability questions

  • Create Impact Statement which details:

    a. Project authorization for publicly tendered projects

    • Intake mechanisms for SBOM/AIBOM approval

    • Formal SBOM/AIBOM approval mechanism

    • Public repositories for approved SBOM/AIBOM

      i. AI Application Process Documentation

    1. Normative references

    2. Descriptive vs prescription in speculative design fields

    3. Resource planning documentation

      1. Visual schematics for cross-standard oversight to assist in on boarding new team members?

      2. Documented process for sign-off/hand-over protocols?
